Marc Karlin – Founding Attorney

Attorney Marc Karlin is the managing partner at Karlin & Karlin, APLC. He practices throughout Southern California in the areas of personal injury law, medical malpractice, immigration, and business litigation. Since September 2012, Mr. Karlin has secured settlements and awards in excess of 6 million dollars for his clients.

A native of Los Angeles, Mr. Karlin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. While attending law school, he completed an externship for the Honorable Cynthia Holcomb Hall of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Prior to forming Karlin & Karlin in 1994 with his late father, Philip Karlin, Marc Karlin worked as an associate attorney in law firms in San Diego and Los Angeles.

Mr. Karlin maintains his commitment to the legal profession and professional growth through memberships in several professional organizations, such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA). In service to the community, Mr. Karlin lends his legal expertise on a pro bono basis to many charitable organizations, including Homeboy Industries Los Angeles, founded by one of his Loyola High School instructors, Fr. Greg Boyle.

Cynthia Solomon Karlin

Ms. Cynthia Solomon Karlin is an experienced trial lawyer who has practiced in the area of criminal defense in the California State courts.

In 1984, Ms. Karlin graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in History from University of California, Los Angeles. She received her J.D. degree from Loyola Law School in 1989, and she was admitted to the California Bar in California in 1990.  For over 4 years, Ms. Karlin served a Deputy Public Defender in Los Angeles. Ms. Karlin has also been employed in the private sector providing assistance with a variety of civil litigation matters.

In addition, Ms. Karlin has worked in the areas of business planning and property management in Los Angeles since 2009.  As such, she has acted as a liaison between tenants, members, accountants, and real estate counsel when addressing owner-tenant and legal issues, including the formation of an LLC. She has also worked with contractors and subcontractors on a variety of construction and interior design projects.

Aside from being an active investor, Ms. Karlin has devoted her attention to many charitable organizations, including Big Sunday, Colburn School, Homeboy Industries, and Friends of Belmont, where she served as CEO, guiding its development into a 501(c)(3) and overseeing a significant charitable gift designated for Belmont High School’s college-bound students. In 2012, Ms. Karlin became a certified college counselor and has provided college counseling assistance to students at Belmont High School, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) and privately to families in Los Angeles. Ms. Karlin lives in Los Angeles and has two children.
